Bulk collections are typically carried out by walking floor trailers and container wagons
Walking floor trailers are loaded through the open top of a trailer, usually by a loading shovel or machine with sufficient reach to ensure the wood can be filled. Products commonly loaded into these trailers are raw wood piles, wood chips, sawdust, virgin products, and even palletised goods (through the rear doors then walked inward). Walking floors can carry up to 26 tonnes of bulk products and depending upon material density, common weights are between 18-25 tonnes. The beauty with walking floors, is that once they arrive to deliver their product, the driver can discharge the material by simply pressing a button which will then start the walking floor to self-discharge the product. A&A recycling run some of their own walking floor units with a greater scale of support coming from the wider A.W. Jenkinson Transport network.
Container wagons carry our robust containers which are placed on our suppliers sites for the collection of waste wood. The container wagons commonly carry two containers (one situated on a trailer) and run an exchange service with suppliers who would like a repeat service. We can also offer a service for “one off” demolition jobs, site clearances, commercial purposes etc. In some cases, vehicles are loaded upon their arrival with waste wood and therefore used in a sense of bulk collection only and not as a site storage option. Typical weights achieved on waste wood streams vary between 2-10 tonnes depending upon material density and grading.
