The A. W Jenkinson Group was established in Cumbria in the mid-1960s by Allan Jenkinson, who transported unwanted sawdust and wood shavings from local sawmills to farms to be used for livestock and pet bedding. Eventually, demand outstripped the locally available sawdust needed to supply A.W. Jenkinson Forest Product’s growing customer base, which led to partnerships being formed further afield.
Today the A.W. Jenkinson Group includes a growing number of innovative businesses serving the needs of customers across the UK and northern Europe. They are all very different yet cohesive, and range from A.W. Jenkinson Forest Products to the haulage and logistics business A.W. Jenkinson Transport, bovine genetics and breeding specialists A.W. Jenkinson Farms and even Penrith Truckstop. The waste wood division, which includes A&A Recycling Ltd, is just one of the thriving arms of the group.
As the trade association for the waste wood recycling sector the Wood Recyclers Association works on behalf of its members such as A&A to represent their needs at the highest level within Government and provide advice and support on issues affecting them. The WRA also provides a networking platform for recyclers, reprocessors and suppliers to the industry so they can meet and share experiences, ideas and make new contacts.
The Road haulage Association acts as an advisory group for logistics giving A.W. Jenkinson Transport Limited the opportunity to seek advice on government policy changes and legislation within the logistics sector.
