Grade A – Clean, Untreated Wood
Sources:
- Pre-consumer waste from manufacturing, distribution, retail, and packaging
- Joinery and pallet reclamation
- Wooden packaging, such as pallets, crates, packing cases, and cable drums
Acceptable Materials:
- Solid softwood and hardwood
- Unpainted and untreated timber offcuts
- Wooden pallets and packaging waste
Non-Wood Contaminants:
- Minor amounts of nails and metal fixings
- Small traces of non-hazardous coatings (e.g., water-soluble paint)
Uses:
Grade A wood is primarily used for animal bedding, panel board production, and biomass fuel. It must be clean and free from treatments, making it ideal for high-quality recycled wood products.
